Ball joint spacers provide additional front suspension lift over stock suspension and overall suspension travel. The front lift height will depend on the weight distribution of your vehicle and the condition of your torsion bar. Ball joint spacers are sold for older 2Wd models of Toyota Hilux that were produced from 1984 to 1995 and for newer 4Wd models of Hilux from 1996+, as well as, other models such as T-100s and 4Runners. Ball joint spacers are manufactured for both 2Wd and 4Wd trucks. When applying a ball joint spacer to a 2Wd vehicles you should consider that the torsion bar to the lower control arm, rather than the upper control arm like in 4Wd vehicles. To get a similar lift like the 4Wd, you will need to adjust the torsion bar of your 2W. The reason why spacers are better than simply raising the torsion bars is the bump stop benefit spacers provide. Instead of spending more money and time on body lifts you can invest in ball joint spacers Hilux, which is ultimately a cheaper, less time consuming option. When it comes to lifting your cars body, less is more, for example if you apply a 6cm lift instead of a 15cm lift, your car's centre of gravity will be lower, your break lines won't need extension, and there will be less stress on your components overall. Which Ball Joint Spacer to Use on Your Truck? For 4Wd trucks the answer is quite simple and straight forward, you will need to get ball joint spacers Hilux 4Wd edition.
But however, for 2Wd drive, it gets a bit more complicated. On 2Wd apart from the regular Hilux 2Wd edition spacers you can also use 4Wd spacers with pre-runner suspensions. Pre-runners are mostly the same as 4Wd suspensions, except the front drive train is removed. This system can be used on a few models of 4Runners, some T-100 models and they usually also fit 1996+ Hilux 4Wd models (that use the same matching front torsion bar suspensions as the ball joint spacer model). The regular 2Wd ball joint spacer Hilux model can be used on earlier 2Wd Hilux vehicles and some 2Wd T-100s. Keep in mind that you cannot apply a ball jointer spacer on your vehicle if it has had a solid axle swap (SAS) job done onto it. A SAS job is when the front IFS suspension system has been removed and a front axle coil has been added and sprung solid in its place. Comments are closed.
